Historic Cutting Boards

I (with the help of my two daughters from time to time) have been building speakers, trays, and shelves using reclaimed barn wood for about a year. Last Christmas my wife asked if I would make some cutting boards as gifts for her sister-in-laws. I said why not and I decided to make them out of the same reclaimed barn wood. They went over so well that they all said I should sell them online. My oldest daughter, Stephanie, thought that it would be a fun experiment so here we are.

These cutting boards are made out reclaimed barn wood from 100+ year old barns. These barns are scattered throughout the Eastern US many of which were standing at the time of the American Civil War. In some cases the trees that were used to mill the wood may have been standing at the time of the Revolutionary war. These cutting boards have a story. We try to include a picture of the barn that the wood came from if available. We will add in some newer wood for style. No two boards will ever be alike. Each piece is a one of a kind!

Each cutting board comes preconditioned with a combination of mineral oil and bee's wax. With proper care the board will last for another 100 years. Long enough for you to create some historic meals using historic cutting boards!
